What happens if you disagree with your tax assessment?

You have the right to dispute the amount your property is assessed for
and it is pretty easy to do. If you saw my last TV show, I went
through the process at the Assessor's office. Don't be intimidated.
It is a rather simple process and the Assessor's office encourages
taxpayers to file an assessment protest if they feel their taxable
value is out of line with the market value of the property.

The key is to present other properties that show your house could not
sell for the value they have assessed it at. Make special note of any
repairs your house needs and take pictures of the damage or repairs
with you to your appointment.

Email your address to claudia@darrylbaskin.com and tell her I told you
to send it for your tax review. I will send you some recent data that
they won't have. You can print it up and have it for your appointment.

Good luck! Find more helpful home seller and home owner tips at the
